Woke at 6:45 am and pulled up the anchor. We got to the wappoo bascule bridge and they opened on request. The weekend bridge schedules are normally a lot more laid back than the week days. It was nice.

Once we got into downtown Charleston the wind and the current were wicked. We went from going from 6-7 knots to 2-3 knots, it sucked.

It took us forever to go through the Charleston Harbor. A newborn baby could’ve crawled faster. Once we got to the Ben Sawyer swing bridge we had to hold for almost an hour. It was so difficult. There were tons of boats holding for the bridge in a tiny channel with powerful winds and currents. It was brutal and we were so happy to finally get through.

The wind and current worked against us today. We averaged 3-4 knots the whole rest of the way. It was frustrating, but we still managed to get 52 miles. Not bad, but it took us way longer than usual. We were hoping to go 60-70.
We saw an alligator today and I was so excited. I wish I could’ve gotten a picture, but was at the helm. He glided across the ICW to the shore. It was fun to watch. We also saw quite a few dolphins today. We got into our anchorage at 7 pm. We anchored with 3 other sailboats. There was a parade of boats headed north today.
I fixed clam linguini for dinner again. We are listening to Broadway music and relaxing. There was a lovely sunset. We are hoping to stay at the Osprey Marina tomorrow in Myrtle Beach.

Sound like a much better day than your last three reports. Keep up the steady, uneventful progress. It also sounds Iike you are getting your sea legs.
