After another life threatening occurrence, Bob is done. He’s had enough and is ready to come home. There was a terrible storm a couple days ago that was traumatizing. They were anchored, the furling line came loose causing the sail to pull out. This caused the boat to keel over on its side. The rail was touching the water. The winds were 50+ mph, gale force.
Hail the size of dimes smacked Tom and Bob. They were in the cockpit as they were holding onto the Bimini so that it didn’t rip off. They were in their life jackets and praying that the lord would have mercy.
The generator fell overboard. The sail was ripped to shreds. The steering broke again. They had to wait out the storm overnight and wait to get towed. Tow boat US had to tow them 25 miles to a marina near Savannah, Georgia. Bob said he’s done and ready to come home. Bless his heart.
Rich and I drove down with all four of the dogs. We stayed in a hotel overnight and dropped me off this morning.

When I got to the boat I thought in my mind “this looks like the White Trash of the Seas”. It looked so bad. The ripped up sail was sitting on the bow. The galley was an absolute mess from everything falling over when the boat was keeled over. It was trashed.
I kissed Rich and the dogs goodbye. Bob and Rich are headed back to Virginia now. I cleaned the galley up. Tom had to get a part for the steering and will finish fixing it tomorrow.

think you are nuts but sure hope the remainder of the trip is peaceful and fun. this time of year, the weather is very iffy.

We spent a week with them in St Mary’s Ga. they were excellent happy hour company. Bob at least got his freedom back, I’m still trapped on this damn boat. Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip!

We will hopefully be back in 2-3 weeks if the boat behaves.
