Crescent river GA to Delaroche creek GA

The windlass broke this morning and we had to pull the anchor up by hand. Tom was exhausted after we both pulled it up. I took the helm for a couple hours this morning to give him a break.

There was a ton of shoaling in certain areas. There was a tug in front of us that hit the bottom and he alerted us that he almost ran aground. He draws almost two feet less water than we do. We were very appreciative.

I was at the helm in a really bad area while Tom was down in the head. The tugboat captain gave me a heads up on the radio that there was some more shoaling and I thanked him profusely. He seemed like a really nice fella.

There were birds hanging out on a sand bar not far from the boat. It was kind of an ominous feeling being so close. They were standing only a few feet away from the channel.

We crossed through multiple sounds today. There was a capsized cargo ship named the Golden ray. She was being salvaged near Brunswick. It was crazy to see.

Jeckyl Island was my favorite part today. It was so pretty. People were enjoying themselves on the beach. There was a pretty lighthouse. It looked like a little slice of paradise.

We travelled 60 miles today. We got into our anchorage early. Tom had me book a marina for two nights in St Augustine for Thanksgiving. It took me hours to figure out where we are going to anchor tomorrow. Originally we were going to stay at a marina in Jacksonville beach, Florida. Tom wanted to gain some more miles and we got the best deal at a marina in St Augustine.

Rich and our children (the dogs) are coming down for Thanksgiving and I cannot wait. This is the longest I’ve ever been with out him. It’s almost been a month since I’ve seen him and I cry sometimes because of how much I miss him and my babies.

I cooked Alfredo gnocchi for dinner tonight. Tom never had gnocchi before and he said it was delicious. We saw a gorgeous bright coral pink sunset. Photos don’t do any justice for how stunning it was.

We are going to anchor outside of Jacksonville beach tomorrow in the one and only anchorage there. I will try my best to post tomorrow, but I don’t really have a way to charge my phone until we get to a marina. The generator broke a couple weeks ago and the rechargeable batteries for my phone are both almost dead. I might unplug the fridge for a little bit tomorrow while we’re underway to charge it.

The barrier islands off georgia are very famous and glad you got a glimpse. Bought a solar charger from amazon which would be exactly what you need, maybe the next trip. Stay safe and thirsty.
