We got off to a good start this morning. Woke up at 7 am. I slept surprisingly well on the boat last night for not having any pillows and using a couple bunched up hoodies instead. I realized last night I also forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste so that’s just lovely. I am hoping somewhere along the way we find a convenience store where I can pick one up. I hate how unorganized I’ve been on this trip so far and I’m hoping I can get it together. I’m normally a perfectionist so this is out of the ordinary for me to be forgetting so many important things.

We waited about an hour for a bridge to open up in Norfolk. Tom let me take the helm for awhile and it was fun driving the boat. I felt like one of the boat captains on the Deadliest Catch (one of my favorite TV shows). It’s amazing how many sail boats are also headed south. I’ve seen a lot of gorgeous yachts and sail boats so far. The military ships are super cool to see as well. We stopped at Top Rack Marina for gas. We lost Paisley when Tom took her for a walk. She somehow managed to get locked in the building, but I’m glad she’s safe. Once we were filled up and ready to go Tom tried to start the engine and she wouldn’t start. He crawled down into the engine room to diagnose what was wrong. Apparently one of the pumps is broken and needs to be replaced. We are going to be docked at the Top Rack Marina in Chesapeake for at least a day, possibly more. Hopefully we can get Voyager II up and running again so we can continue our journey. Right now I’m sitting here watching boats be lifted up and placed in the water. It’s been kinda entertaining to watch. I’m just grateful the boat decided to break down at a marina instead of in the middle of the ICW or at sea. Trying my best to be positive and help Tom in any way I can.

Looks like you’re off to an adventurous start!!
Good luck with pump tomorrow!!
