Rich took us back to the marina this morning. I was so sad that he had to leave already. Tom had Rich take Paisley back to Kilmarnock with him. It was kind of unexpected, but he wants to come get her when he flies back to get his car. I am bummed I don’t have my roommate anymore. Paisley insisted on sleeping in my room every night and I’m sad she’s not here.
Tom worked on fixing the steering and getting it finished. We still needed to get stuff done before we left like go to the grocery store. Tom’s bike fell into the water when he was getting off the boat onto the dock. The bike sunk down to the bottom. One of our neighbors on the dock used a boat hook and pulled it back out.
We went to the store on the bikes and got stocked up on all our provisions for the boat. We enjoy riding the bikes to the store. Steering is fixed. I’ve spent the whole day figuring out where we are anchoring tomorrow and next couple of days. None of the guides for Florida are current. They are from 2005,2006 and 2011. I’ve been stressing about it because the anchorage areas seem pretty sparse in Florida on the ICW and too shallow for our draft. Drawing five and a half feet of water is making it tricky, but we are gonna make the most of it and figure it out.
I miss Rich and the dogs much. I can’t wait to see him soon. We hope to be in Vero beach in about 5 days. It’s about 200 miles away from Jacksonville beach. Hopefully things go as smoothly as possible. Our plan is to head a little bit past St Augustine tomorrow and anchor.
It’s been an adventure and it’s kind of cool to say I’ve lived on a sailboat for a month. Tom and I have had a lot of fun and have grown closer. We’ve had quite the adventure with a lot of fun times.
