Today was probably the hardest day we’ve had so far. We had to put the steering cables back in. It was extremely difficult. We had to loop the cable around the drum five times and then hook it up to the quadrant.
I had to take my gloves off when wrapping it around the drum so my hand would fit. My hands were covered in blood and grease, so were Tom’s. I was getting extremely discouraged because it was so difficult, I’m not used to this hard of labor. I started crying and said that I couldn’t do it. Tom was being kind, understanding and encouraging. He’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
Two Dolphins swam up to the boat. I could hear them squealing their high pitch frequency sound. I saw their faces and they were inches from the boat. I felt in my heart that it was a blessing from The Lord. I believe in my heart those dolphins swam up to us to give us comfort in a time of stress. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s what I believe. It gave me a sense of relief.
We kept doing what needed to be done. It took a lot longer than we originally anticipated. We left the anchorage around 2:30. We didn’t have much daylight to work with, but we just wanted to get out of there.
We crossed the Sapelo sound. It was a little choppy as we were passing through the inlet. There was a big shrimp boat catching delicious shrimps as we passed by. Their big outriggers were out and I think they look cool.

We travelled only about 13 miles today, but Tom and I joked it’s better than 300 yards. We are both exhausted and drained. I made us tuna fish sandwiches and split pea soup for dinner. We saw a gorgeous pink hued sunset this evening. We are hoping to go 60 miles tomorrow.

On the Road again. Hang in there Honey! We are coming down for Thanksgiving to give you some Love, Turkey, Family and Blessings!

Hi salty candy,
Sailing looks hard but not as hard as moving… We just sold our house and moved to Salt Lake and put all her stuff in storage. I would rather be out on a rough ocean than moving!
Looks like you’re having a great time. Lynda sends her love but says she’s glad she’s on land…
We love and miss you.
We’re going to North Carolina Wednesday.
Let us know if you’re anywhere near the Carolinas and we will come to the coast and wave as you sail by !!!

Hey Guy! So good to hear from you. Sailing is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I love it. I plan on buying a boat someday and would love to take you and Linda for a cruise down the Intracoastal Waterway sometime! That’s awesome you guys sold your house! Moving is such a pain! I totally know how you feel. It’s so much work and takes so much energy.
Love and miss you guys!
That’s awesome you guys are going to visit North Carolina. I loved it and thought it was so beautiful. I would love to see you guys. We are currently in Florida heading south 😊
Can’t wait to see you guys when we are back in Utah!

Obviously you are not sailing on THE MAGESTY OF THE SEAS!! You are having to work as first mate and what you are enduring will make you stronger and more confident. When this is over, you will think, what was i thinking or what a great shot in the arm for me the rest of my life. Based on history, you will have more hurdles ahead, the nuclear subs for one but you will handle them with a new attitude. Stay thirsty my mates!
