We left the Marina at 6:30 am this morning. I was tired, but we wanted to make it down to North Myrtle Beach before dark. I was tired, but it was worth it to get an early start. The current was in our favor today. We got lucky because apparently Cape Fear tends to have a wicked current.

We passed multiple inlets today and I studied my Waterway guide rigorously. There were shoals and people running aground at just about every inlet we passed. The current and wind were nasty in those spots. We could hear the coast guard on the radio warning someone in front of us. I helped Tom navigate so that didn’t happen. The inlets are beautiful because you can see the ocean, but I was a little nervous we were going to run aground.
We averaged around 9 knots today. The current made us fly down the ICW. It was 82 degrees, but felt like it was 100. It’s just like paradise. I called every Marina in North Myrtle Beach. It’s supposed to storm nasty the next couple days from the tropical storm. Every single Marina was booked solid for our length of boat. We went so fast we ended up getting to the anchorage around 3 pm.
I was a little uneasy about this Anchorage because Joanne said she hated it in her journal. There were also a bunch of wrecked sail boats and a yacht that made me paranoid. Tom said they were from the hurricane. Tom reassured me the reason they didn’t like this anchorage last time is because of how crowded it was.

We relaxed for about an hour and a half before my virtual singing lesson with Debra. We saw a cruise ship from American Cruise Lines cruising along down the ICW. I think that would be so fun.

Tom cooked us Reubens for dinner. We are listening to Lana Del Rey and starting to wind down. I’m glad Tom had been enjoying my music that I play in the evenings. We are planning to go 50-60 miles again tomorrow.
